CHECK LIST FOR " ZEUS", ENDURANCE 35 KETCH , REG. Nº 6º G.C. 22 -1997

This list will be used at the beginning and at the end of the charter period so as to make sure that all items are in perfect working order .Familiarisation procedure is expected to take about three hours,

FOCSLE

  • Door leading to two chain compartments
  • Independent cabin with twin bunks
  • Hatch, please make sure is properly closed when you sail
  • Two cupboards, two storage spaces, two shelves for clothes etc
  • Door focsle/heads should be off the latch and shut close when sailing
  • Space where the bow thrusters electric motor is installed

HEADS

  • Two cupboards with mirrors, containing two first aid kits, toilet paper, kitchen roll, cleaning material
  • Cupboard containing clothes pegs, rubber gloves, etc under wash basing
  • Two sea cocks, toilet pump, spares for same, toilet brush and holde
  • Lavac vacuum operated sea toilet, explain how it works
  • Bucket and liners , to put soiled paper
  • Shower and wash basing drains into the bilge 

STARBOARD CABIN

  • Independent cabin with two bunk beds
  • Wardrobe with set of draws
  • Dressing table with storage space for shoes etc 

PORT-MIDSHIP

  • Single bunk
  • Long shelf, five cupboards, five storage spaces and one wardrobe
  • Storage space for shoes under step

MAIN CABIN , GALLEY, PILOTS BED, CHART TABLE

  • Gas cooker (camping gas) with three rings and oven, to light press and hold, explain how it works
  • Gas alarm , show how it works
  • Galley utensils, pressure cooker, percolator, kettle, etc full set of crockery and cutlery for six in cupboards
  • Clean tea towels, kitchen roll, small hammock to store fruit, display shelf for wine bottles, culinary condiments shelf containing, spices, sea salt, olive oil, tabasco, sugar, tea, ground coffee, infusions, etc
  • Galley sink drains into the sea
  • Sailor VHF radio model RT2048 explain feature of scan
  • Raytheon gps-plotter with 32 MB chart, explain use of and geographical position of waypoints in memory
  • Furuno Radar mod M1621- MK2, explain how to use it
  • Chart table containing full set of charts of the Canary Islands, parallel rulers, dividers, pencils , magnifying glass.
  • Best sailing course with NE trade winds is east or west of Gran Canaria
  • Instruction manuals related to equipment, in two separate folders marked electrical and mechanical
  • Ships papers, navigability and D.O.T. certificates, authorization to charter from Canary Islands Government, insurance certificates for vessel and passengers.
  • Log book, pilots books, please write events in log book
  • Spare fuses, spare bulbs, spare batteries, Sail repair kit, writing paper, pistol and flares

  • Three cupboards for storing food, one cupboard with light for storing special drinks and glasses, on starboard

  • Under settee: four big lockers containing, mains vacuum cleaner, you name it, its here, batteries numbered nº 1 and nº 2, bag containing filters, impeller, belts, spare engines water pump, spare fresh water pump,spare bilge pump, etc

ENGINE AND BILGE

Please bear in mind that this is a sailing vessel, it can go faster under sail than under engine, the cruising speed under engine is reached at about 1.900 revs, she will then consume more diesel and will begin to start to smoke , she is happy with 1500-1900 RPM

  • Solé 48 HP Diesel engine

  • DECK
  • On each mast (2) there is a knife for cutting rope, etc in an emergency
  • Eight fenders, when we sail we tie them to a stainless bar at stern
  • Fitted jackstays, to clip your harness to when working on deck
  • Radar reflector
  • One boathook
  • Main sail: explain slab reefing
  • Mizzen, explain reefing
  • 8 man self inflatable liferaft, show how it should work
  • Dinghy in bag tied to belaying pins on bottom ratline – Zodiac inflatable 2,5 metres- stored on starboard
  • Electric anchor windlass, can be hand operated with handle, use to collect chain and not to pull boat to anchor
  • Two anchors with chain and warps, the Bruce has 40 m. of chain (8mm) and about 50 m of rope
  • Head sail roller reefing, explain how it works
  • Boomed rigged self-tacking staysail
  • Spare halyards on main mast and mizzen
  • 10 pieces of rope of various lengths stored on belaying pins
  • Two air vents
  • One ladder hooks on stern to gain access from the sea, ( use fender under ladder so as not to scratch the hull)
  • Water intake (not marked) two on starboard ,one ahead, one on port side, fill slowly , about 640 L.
  • Diesel intake (2),(marked DIESEL) on port side, about 270L, endurance about 80 hours, fill slowly too.
  • All purpose rubber bucket, can be used to cool the deck with sea water on a hot day, or as aid for fire extinguishing, 
  • COCKPIT
  • Outboard engine (Mercury 4HP ) petrol, two strokes, 100:1
  • Ahead-Stop-Astern gearbox lever
  • Bow thruster control pannel, press twice to switch on, bows to port and bows to starboard
  • Block & tackle at end of mizzen boom, for lowering outboard to dinghy’s transom with no effort.

  • Ice box ( keeps drinks cold for two days), you can get ice in any fuel station in marinas 
  • Sail covers, please protect the sails from UV radiation when not in use by zipping lazy bags and small covers
